Involvement with charitable and goodwill events provides a valuable foundation for our students to become good stewards of their neighbors and their community. While our individual Academy locations participate in dozens of local charities, The Salon Professional Academy franchise currently supports two of our own programs nationwide: Beauty for The Battle and Trim Hunger.
Beauty for the Battle
TSPA supports the efforts to raise awareness and funding for breast cancer research through the annual Beauty for the Battle campaign. Individual Academy locations plan activities, fund-raisers, and student competitions with breast cancer groups in their communities. For the entire month of October (National Breast Cancer Awareness Month] students engage in activities like cut-a-thons, parades, bake sales, and community events. Participation in Beauty for the Battle is not only rewarding for the students, but it reinforces the giving nature that absolutely defines this industry.
Trim Hunger
Every day in our country, nearly 50 million people wake up not knowing where their next meal will come from. The Salon Professional Academy franchise locations all across the country have organized a nationwide fundraising effort to bring awareness to the issue of feeding the hungry in America. Events take place year-round, culminating in a month-long effort in September (National Hunger Action Month) to raise funds and awareness for the hunger problem facing our country.
TSPA reaches out to community leaders, local salon and spa owners, grocery stores and other businesses to be involved through donations, volunteerism, and corporate sponsorship at both the local and national level. TRIM HUNGER is promoted and supported through print campaigns in the TSPA locations, national and local websites, social media, area chambers of commerce, local media outlets, governmental agencies, and partner and distribution networks in the beauty industry.
A dedicated grass-roots campaign through social media has been employed through the use of [hashtag] #orangethumby. As part of a growing trend of painting thumbnails the official color of the cause they support, TRIM HUNGER participants are invited to share a “selfie” on social media with their “orange thumby” while participating in any charitable act for hunger awareness.
